Hi JSJ,
My problem is that the GPLShift utility (version 0.560) works fine online on VROC, but offline, there is no response to the configured wheel buttons. I have an Act-Labs Force RS, Performance pedals and Win XP. Everything is OK online. The volume control (POV), shift-r button (2.8), Look L (2.7), Look R (2.4) buttons work fine. Only the Look L and R are OK offline, but they are configured in GPL too as the same buttons.
I just tried the FOV zoom and again, online it’s fine and the setting has been saved with the “home “ key. But offline – nothing. I still have the default FOV and it can’t be adjusted.
I have GPLSHIFT.DLL, GPLSHIFT.INI, GPLSHFT2.INI and GPLPATCH.EXE in the GPL directory. Is this the way that it should work? Or is something not right? An what is the purpose of GPLSHFT2?

I should add that at the moment, I'm not using my Act-Labs shifter and I don't know whether or not it's working both online and offline. I'm using your utility for chat, look r and l, sound volume, FOV adjustment and shift-r - the last three not operating offline.

Excuse my English.........I am Danish: Hi BobSimpson I have never heard about that problem before ) Check list: (Sorry if you have tried that) Start with setting GPL own Look L&R 45d to x, y (default) in Options/Controller menu, because of a conflict between GPL and the utility ALL GPLshift+ files must be in GPL root (where you have GPL.EXE) If using shortcut to GPL.EXE, then remember this in shortcut properties/Shortcut: Target: x:\GPLrootDIR\GPL.EXE Start in: x:\GPLrootDIR <-- So GPL.EXE can find GPLshift.dll under upstart Any luck? Another test: Move (not copy) GPLshift.ini from GPL root to a save place, run GPL.EXE (not via VROC), and then exit GPL GPLshift+ (GPLshift.dll) should have created a new GPLshift.ini, try to conf. the new INI and see what happen GPLshft2.ini: GPLshift.ini is what you could call both cfg and a info file - GPLshft2.ini is only a copy of GPLshift.ini, but without the extra info/comnent lines, for people there know the strange cfg. concept in .INI (must be renamed to GPLshift.ini if you want to use this 2nd file) *JSJ*

I should add that at the moment, I'm not using my Act-Labs shifter and I don't know whether or not it's working both online and offline. Oh, Try to disable the Shifter support: [ Shifter Unit ] Shifter_Model = NONE *JSJ*

This is what happened and how I fixed it. I was starting GPL using GEM+, which was in C:\program files and pointed correctly at D:\sierra\gpl\gpl.exe. The GPLShift files were in the D:\sierra folder, correctly. When I used GEM+, the GPLShift chat, FOV and sound adjustment buttons weren’t working. When I started GPL from VROC, it worked fine.
I removed the GEM+ installation and reinstalled it in D:\sierra\utilities and ran it from there. That cleared up the problem. I don’t have any idea what GEM+ was doing before, or if it found some other gpl.exe, but I’m one happy GPLer now.
Thanks for your help and a great utility.
One more question – when I save the FOV, is there a way of knowing what the setting is (i.e. 60, 55, 50)? Do I need to use the FOVed utility to read the angle?

Hi Bob_Simpson
Thanks for the info about the util & GEM+ problem I have never uset GEM, but will inst. it later to test for conflict
Yes you need a another util if you want to translate the floating hex point (e.g 3FAE3DA8) to angle (50, 55 60) but why do you need to know the angle?

I just want to know the angle because someone else recommnded 55 degrees as his favourite FOV and I wanted to see if it was any different from what I ended up with.

Excuse my English.........I am Danish Hi Bob_Simpson Try with GPL Angle2Hex utility, created by C. Sourelis You can DL it from GPL++ ( www.gplpp.com ) The utility says: 55 = 0.959931 HEX = 0BBE753F put this HEX number in GPLshift.ini in this way: UserDefineFOV = 3F75BE0B UserDefineSOV = 3F75BE0B *JSJ*
