Hi all, I'm new on this forum, I signed up to maybe get some help with this.
I looked in the features of GPLshift and saw the trackIR support, which I would love to see in GPL. I installed as per instructions anyway, the first problem is, the patched .exe becomes GPL2004demo??? I installed off my own Disc it is the full version. Second thing is : nothing is changed in GPL - no way to define what trackir controls etc...
or do I have to edit the .ini file?
Sorry if I am being stupid but the 2004demo thing narked me a bit. I realise I may be missing the point of this addon so can someone explain exactly what it is for? Is it for tracking head movements or just for different controllers?

update, here is a step by step list of what I do and what happens in case someone can point out an error in my method.
1. GPLshift.ini + GPLshift.dll + GPLshift_patch.exe are placed in Sierra\GPL\
2. Delete gplc65.exe, gplc66.exe, gplc67.exe and gplc69.exe from same folder
3. Edit GPLshift.ini parameter : LookAroundMode = 1.POV ; - then save
4. Run GPLshift_patch.exe
PROBLEM 1 : Message box tells me that GPL.exe 2004 DEMO version? has been patched for GPLshift. This would make sense had I D'ld the 2004 demo but I bought the game from sold out software and Installed from the CD, this is NOT a demo version. Ideas anyone?
anyway, carrying on in hope.
5. Run Gem+ 2.5.32 and push green button GPL
PROBLEM 2 : Gem+ starts to rebuild the .exe files from the patched GPL.exe, but before getting to the mod year specific .exe files a message box pops up simply saying 'Error'. push 'OK' and it pops up again maybe 20 times? until finally a message boxs tells me Gem+ has suffered an unrecoverable error and shuts down.
6. Replace all .exe files with original backups (phew!) and head straight back to step 1...
I have tried the different settings in GPLshift.ini LookAroundMode parameters but unless I leave it as 'OFF' Gem+ fails to rebuild the .exe files. Will keep trying and update here if I can get it going. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Sam.

Are you sure that you put the GPLshift.ini + GPLshift.dll + GPLshift_patch.exe in the correct directory? I can't imagine why it would be referencing the demo unless it's in the GPL demo folder. Or maybe the GPL.exe was copied over from the Demo.
You could copy the original EXE from the CD and then patch it, but what I'd do is make a fresh installation and then copy over tracks, setups etc. Remember that you'll have to create the driver name inside of GPL and not copy the whole player folder.
What wheel are you using?

Thankyou Bob, I will try a re-install from the disc. I think maybe one of the many patches/mods etc.. might have overwritten GPL.exe with the demo version, as Gem+ is now failing to rebuild .exe files from it even without the GPLshift_patch applied. I am waiting for a Thrustmaster RGT FFB wheel dispatched from Amazon today should arrive Wednesday. It has a gear lever and 3 pedals etc... The reason I wanted to try GPLshift were the references to view movement through TrackIR, I gather it is not designed specifically for that purpose. Oh, and I intend to try it with FaceTrackNOIR which can emulate TrackIR - which may or may not be possible still, It would be cool if it worked.

Hmmmm... Well after a fresh install, exactly the same problems occur as mentioned above. I am going to give up on this for now, for it seems that either GPLshift is faulty (not likely seems to work for other people) or the new GEM+2.5.0.32 is faulty (unable to deal with the changes in GPL.exe for doing rebuilds) again unlikely, nobody else with a similar problem on these forums. Last and unfortunately MOST likely is that the CD purchased from sold out software contains the DEMO version of GPL.exe... As far as I can tell these are the only possibilities, which means I must wait for updates to GPLshift and/or GEM.

I'd guess that GPLShift has nothing to do with your problems. Try asking at the SRMZ forums at srmz.net/index.php?act=idxAh, I see you've already posted there.
