I kept getting the dialogue box complaining that my INI file was corrupt, or for another version. Neither was the case.
I use an editor, NoteTab (Fantastic product, nifty outliner feature), which detects, and edits, files in all kinds of format - DOS ASCII, Windows ASCII, UNIX, etc. That's one of the main reasons I bought it. I tried reverting, and repatching GPL.EXE. I ran the GPLSHIFT.INI, and GPLSHFT2.INI, and got the same error all the time. Just for the heck of it, I unzipped a fresh version to the GPL root folder, patched a new version of GPL.exe, and it worked. I edited the file to turn off the shifter, and it failed. I set it back from NONE to AUTO, and it still failed with the same error. On a hunch I unzipped the INI file only again, and it worked. I loaded the INI file in the NOTEPAD utility, changed it, and it still worked. I loaded it again, and looked again. There's strange character at the very end of the file that I believe confuses my editor into thinking that GPLSHIFT.INI is a UNIX format file.
So... JSJ, Any ideas what's up here? I usually have NoteTab set as the default editor for INI files, so this is an annoyance. Minor, yes, but still an annoyance.
The good news is that the utility now works great, and with my Nostromo N50 Speedpad.

Excuse my English.........I am Danish: Hello Carey Barnett Can you send me a copy of the currupted .INI via email to me home.worldonline.dk/~7471000/(click below at JSJ) Have you notice when these strange character upcome? This .INI error message upcome if GPLshift+ can't find the start of lines with [ Group ] and "_Buttons = " unden checking for selected options so DON'T change any thing before "= " in these lines Test: Move your GPLshift.ini away from GPL root and GPLshift+ will create a new, (in good old DOS ASCII format) strange char. in this new one? *JSJ*
